Freedom

I have been thinking about Freedom a lot recently. Reflecting on last year, I am grateful that COVID is largely under control in Pennsylvania and we have the freedom to spend time with our friends and family and that our children have been able to return to the school room and a more normal social life.

You may be sharing these same thoughts on freedom but you may not give much thought to the relationship between freedom and clutter. Clutter impacts our freedom and can be a major source of stress. We can become burdened by managing and maintaining our ever-increasing mountain of too much “stuff.”

Decluttering is an emancipating and liberating experience. It can incite more creative, expansive thinking and a greater flow of energy. Joshua Becker, author of The More of Less says, “Less clutter leads to more freedom and contentment and a more generous spirit. Minimize your possessions and maximize your life.”

If you want to experience the joy of being liberated from clutter but don’t know how or where to start, call me. I can help. Let’s have a conversation.

Problem: Jackie’s living room was so cluttered there was no place to sit and she was too embarrassed to have anyone over to her home.
Solution: We put the pile of items that were intended for donations in the front seat of her car. The rest of the clutter was put away where it belonged or was taken to the curb.
Outcome: Jackie felt free to invite friends and family over. No more feeling ashamed of her home.

Problem: Wanda’s storage area was such a mess she had given up on ever getting it under control.
Solution: We eliminated most of the clutter by discarding or donating the things she did not need to keep. The rest was categorized and put into clearly labeled containers.
Outcome: Wanda was liberated from the storage room from hell.
