This past year has been a year of challenges for all of us. Personally, we were suddenly isolated from friends and family while scrambling to adjust to working remotely; many also dealing with virtual education and childcare. As professionals, we were suddenly unable to network in person but, fortunately, several businesses stepped up to the plate and kept us in touch. Thank you to @Rothkoff Law and @Sara Burns of Senior Directory and @Betsy Szamboti of Artis of Yardley for facilitating our ZOOM calls. January and February of 2020 were the busiest months I had ever had in my business. I was determined to make sure that no one would forget who I am or what I do so I made a lot of phone calls and I sent out weekly newsletters (I will never run out of topics on home organizing!) It paid off. As soon as restrictions began to lift, the phone rang. I also worked with a business coach and my investment of time and money paid off. All of my business is now referrals or clients who found me on-line and all of my clients are on a retainer. Life is good. In November 2020 I was presented with a second major challenge. We had two weeks-notice that my daughter and her husband would be having major surgery. She donated one of her kidneys for his paired kidney exchange. It was a very hectic few weeks, but the grandparents tag-teamed and both Jenna and Ross are doing well six months later. Thank you to everyone for your on-going concern and prayers. Fast forward to my most recent challenge. On March 26 I was walking my dog, tripped and suffered radial end impact fractures in both arms. I landed face down on the pavement and had a lingering concussion. Suddenly, I was totally out of commission; unable to work, drive, or perform simple activities of daily living--not even yoga. My husband, sisters and a few close friends took good care of me. Again, I was determined that this would not be the end of my business, so I subcontracted fellow NAPO organizers to help me complete a job in progress. After eleven weeks I am thrilled to be back to networking and working independently, walking my dog and bike riding with my hubby. What has this most recent challenge taught me? It has taught me that life can change suddenly, without warning and without any apparent reason. It has taught me not to give up, to persevere, and to reach out to a friend to ask for support when things seem hopeless and never-ending. This is not my typical newsletter but if you haven’t heard from me in a while or haven’t seen me on calls recently, I want to assure you that I am still in business despite all of the challenges in the past fourteen months. I am always thinking of my network friends and looking for opportunities to refer business to you or help you make valuable connections. I continue to be very grateful for all of the referrals from my clients and network friends.
